At Kelson School we celebrate the successes of our tamariki while embracing diversity and the many cultures that make up our community. We have high standards and encourage excellence through providing our children with opportunities to shine. We acknowledge and respond to the interests and passions of our tamariki to engage them in future-focussed learning, preparing them for what is ahead.
Relationships with our school whanau enhance our learning. We draw on the strengths in our community to provide new opportunities for our tamariki and actively find ways to bring our community together. Our staff and whanau collaborate to ensure that our classrooms are stimulating environments where every student is valued and given the opportunity to thrive.
At Kelson School we acknowledge and value Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Te Reo and Tikanga Maori are embraced as part of our unique New Zealand culture and are a natural part of our school. We develop the confidence and pride of our tamariki by weaving Tikanga Maori through our everyday experiences of school life. “Ko te reo te taikura ō te whakaaro marama” Language is the key to understanding.
Kelson tamariki draw on our school values and our STRIVE skills for learning to become respectful, responsible and resilient young people. They are creative problem solvers and display integrity. At Kelson School we develop young achievers who STRIVE to do the RITE thing and leave our school ready for the challenges of the real world.
